The leadership of Banganje Community Development Association (BCDA) by virtue of its mandate derived from the good people of Banganje is saddled with the responsibility of carefully managing and caring for the well-being of the community.
The leadership brings warm greetings to all sons and daughters of Banganje extract; wishing everyone a good health and prosperity, and encouraging all to stay away from all forms of indolence.
We are in a hard time, where things in life seems not to be easy; prices of essential commodities are soaring high. We therefore encourage everyone to be hardworking and avoid unnecessary spending of money, more especially at this time of harvest. Let’s not forget our recent experiences during the raining season.
We encourage our good people in diaspora to double their efforts in training their children, and also help the younger ones at home to be good ambassadors.
We trust that our community leaders will continue to play the role of protecting and promoting the general interest of Banganje, as well as the independence of the Clan in Tangale Land.
The BCDA leadership pray that God will help everyone to succeed in their various life endeavors.
MAI BANGANJE MATTER
With respect to the appointment of substantive Mai Banganje, the leadership is ready to go an extra mile to see that the interest of the Banganje people is protected. We are calling on every son and daughter to calm down and not to take the laws into their hands. Let us all wait for the outcome.
We also call on all to uphold our cultural values of respect and orderliness, anywhere we find ourselves.
The leadership had recognized the irregularity in selection of the three names recommended to the Governor, in which the names were selected without involving Village Heads and Committee. This is contrary to the precedence based on the history of Banganje Community when it comes to the replacement of Mai Banganje.
During the period, we sought for understanding and we overlooked the action. We say thank you for being obedient to our call.
The leadership encourages all sons and daughters to inculcate the spirit of COORDINATION and speaking with ONE VOICE on any issue that affects the general interest of Banganje.
However, it is important to state that Banganje Community is bigger than the opinion of one person; an individual cannot decide for Banganje on the names to be recommended to Governor for appointment of substantive Mai Banganje.
Therefore, no one, or group of persons can form any organization that will act for the interest of Banganje because it is equivalent to waging war against the established BCDA.
In Banganje, traditional tittle holders are well respected, and the leadership of BCDA hold them in high esteem, as well the whole traditional institution. The BCDA leadership is willing to listen to their advice and respect their opinion on matters of interest to Banganje, as long as such position is not selfish.
It is important to point out that we recently noticed that some title holders called for meetings and carrief out decisions contrary to the interest of the community. This will no longer be allowed to happen again. The right composition be in place for such meetings to hold.
The BCDA leadership assures the good people of Banganje, that any person or groups of persons who want to override the interest of Banganje will strongly be resisted. We will not fold our hands and look at them, because the interest of the community is greater than the interest of any individual.
STEPS TAKEN
Ahead of the announcement of Mai Banganje, the BCDA wrote a letter to the Chairperson of Billiri LGA, Hon. Egla Idris, requesting her intervention to ensure steps are taken to avoid breach of peace.
Before writing her, we had a consultation with representatives of all the Banganje clans, including women and youth, where we took a common position.
In our letter, we specifically stated that the community supports and will accept appointing any of the three names earlier submitted, i.e. Mr. Endrick Yakubu London, Mr. Kyari Alhassan Gayus, and Mr. Yohanna Mungani.
We are hopeful that the Executive Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya will respect the wishes of the Banganje people and appoint one of the three. This we believe will calm the uneasiness currently experienced in the land with respect to the issue of Mai Banganje.
We request everyone to keep praying for our land and contribute positively to the development of the Banganje community.
God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Signed
Cleopas Lawnar,
General Secretary, BCDA
