Membership

Article 3-1: Qualification for Membership

(a) Eligibility Criteria

Membership in the Tangale Community Overseas, Inc. shall be open to individuals of Tangale descent residing outside Nigeria, including those residing in North America, South America, Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East, who satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Are direct descendants of Tangale through parentage;
  2. Are related to Tangale descendants through parentage;
  3. Are willing to become active members of the organization;
  4. Commit to attending meetings regularly, remitting all applicable fees when due, and conducting themselves responsibly; and
  5. Agree to abide by all provisions of this Constitution.

(b) Spouses of Members

Spouses of members, irrespective of their state or national origin, shall be deemed members of the Tangale Community Overseas, Inc.

(c) Associate Members

Associate membership shall be available to members of the Tangale community who are residing temporarily overseas.

(d) Honorary Members

Honorary membership may be conferred upon individuals who demonstrate an interest in the organization and its mission, as contemplated in this Article, but who do not qualify under the categories set forth in Article 3-1(a)(1), (2), and (3).

Honorary membership shall terminate upon the cessation of the individual’s relationship with regular members.

(e) Rights of Honorary Members

Honorary members may participate in all activities of the Tangale Community Overseas, Inc., except that they shall not participate in policy-making or hold any office or title within the organization.

 

Article 3-2: Membership Requirements

Applications for membership shall be submitted in writing on the prescribed membership application form and shall be accompanied by a non-refundable application fee of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00).
